The Little Match Girl

This charming little dress and kerchief is a unique creation with each making. The fabrics are mostly cotton, patches fixed in place with fusable webbing, and then by hand-stitching the contrast thread over the edges. Lace is hand-stitched into collar, sleeves, and skirt.

All this handiwork comes together to recreate the tragic and beautiful little Match Girl, who lit her way to Heaven with the last of her matches on Christmas Night, to join her Grandmother.
